Fall in Nashville may just be one of my favorite times of the year. This senior session was extra special because Brookelynn flew out from California to have her photos taken in the gorgeous fall scenery and of course, for a visit with me and my family. I used to babysit Brookelynn when she was a little girl, so it was a little surreal for me to photograph her senior photos!
It’s been incredibly too long since I’ve shared my work. I love being a photographer and part of the joy is sharing my work, however, I have really allowed that to be put on the back burner of my life. I’ve decided recently that I am going to once again begin to share this journey that I love so much. I love that there are always new things I can learn in photography and it’s so rewarding getting to help capture the love between people. Here is a recent engagement session with CJ and Alexis. I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding in just 9 days!
I met Chelsea the moment I walked into her hospital room while she was in the midst of laboring to have her second daughter and immediately I feel in love with her and her entire family. When photographing births sometimes it happens a lot faster than we think and sometimes a lot slower. Chelsea was expecting to be delivering within the next 2 hours after I arrived. Well, after waiting about 6 more hours she was ready to push… and I mean she was ready! At that point I was in the waiting room giving her and her husband a few moments alone when I got a text it was time to push. Naturally, I went running down the hallway and it was a good thing I ran. She had her baby literally one minute after I walked back in the room! Here’s a video I shot of that sweet moment.
Congratulations David and Chelsea and big sister Charley on the new arrival of Swayze Layne Brown!
I have said it before, but every birth I have photographed has always made me cry and this one was no different. The excitement in the room waiting for the baby to be born could be felt by everyone especially since they had no idea what the baby’s gender was. Kate was so calm as she labored not to mentioned she looked beautiful in the midst of so much pain. And it was so evident how much Brett and Kate love each other watching Brett so tenderly comfort his bride. I hope this video will always bring back such vivid memories for Brett and Kate of that first moment when their eyes met their baby girl.
Congratulations Whitmore Family on the birth of your beautiful baby Finley!
If you want to read Kate’s birth story, check out her blog at http://www.wearethewhitmores.com/whitkid-birth-story/ .
As a photographer I am always wanting to grow and be challenged and I have loved the journey I have been on with photographing AND videoing births. There is just nothing like it! The moment when a mom and a dad see their baby for the first time… it’s sacred and a moment to always be cherished. I have cried at each birth I have been privileged to be at.
Here is a video I shot of my sister giving birth to my niece. And don’t worry it’s a PG rating ;).
Let’s be honest, I am perfectly horrible about updating my blog with recent work. There’s something really rewarding about sharing recent work, yet it takes a lot of extra time and thus, ends up at the end of my list. However, this weekend this super fun couple is getting married and I couldn’t be more excited about it. So, I figured I would share their engagement photos I shot this last fall.
Anyway, Congratulations Ryan and Carrie! You are just days away from officially being Mr & Mrs!!!
There is something so beautiful about Palm Springs weddings and this one wedding definitely was one of them. Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Serrano!
I have decided I need to start blogging again! Due to the world of Instagram and other social networks, I haven’t hardly posted any of my work for the last 2 years. So, my goal is to begin posting again on a regularly basis… it’s baby steps right? One post at a time. To start off, here is a sneak peek from a mini session I shot in California with the beautiful Robinson family!
It’s always fun to look back at some of our favorite work and since we just posted Tom & Steph’s recent shoot, we figured it would be fun to look back at last year’s shoot in Palm Springs.
Hope you all are having a great week!
Posting New Year’s photos in February? Sure, why not?! Hands down, Tom and Steph are one of our favorite couples to shoot. They happened to be in Tennessee before Christmas and Steph brought a few props along for a quick photo shoot for their Christmas card. We grabbed a few things around my house to add to her props and we had a cute little shoot on our hands.
